No News IS Good News, Right?

I have to keep telling myself that.  I don't want WHFC to call me....like, ever.   But, I do want the email stating that we passed court.  We heard yesterday on a call with our agency that we will likely be grandfathered in to the one trip rule, since we have already accepted our referral.  This means that we will pass court in Ethiopia, and then go to pick up our children.  It is good news for us in almost every possible way, especially because I did not want to meet them and then say "good-bye."  I can't believe it has already been 3 weeks since we got our referral call, but I am sure that is because I have been keeping very busy.  I leave tomorrow morning for D.C/VA for a quick overnight work trip, and then leave on Saturday for a college "girl's night."  I think this may be my last night out for a while, so I'm gonna enjoy it!!!

Yesterday, I met with my new friend and AP of a beautiful, almost 1 year old baby girl.  I have met Mom before, however, it was the first time I met baby.  She is absolutely one of the cutest little babies I have ever seen!!!

Oh, and I have mentioned a few times that we were finishing up on some projects around the house.  We finally got our carpet installed on our stairs last weekend!  I took a deep breath as the carpet guy stapled about a thousand staples into our hardwood stairs.....the results are nice though, and it will be a lot softer on a little tush then the hardwood would be :)

  2. So exciting! And awesome you only have to go once. I dread the idea of meeting the child and then leaving. Just not a cool way to go. :(

  4. You're right, until you get that Good News From Ethiopia email, no news is definitely good news. It's just really, really hard to wait for that email. I must have hit send/receive every five minutes for two months.

The stairs look great, and enjoy your girls night out!

  7. The one trip is a HUGE bonus. Along with the good-bye, it is the logistical nightmare. I hope they get the system down so that when people fly there for court it only takes one try to pass and the court doesn't postpone the date.

  9. It seems like we are ALL just waiting for something ALL the time in the world of IA. I'll be thinking of you guys and hope you get your passing court email soon! I really, really can't wait to see a pic of your little ones!!! The stairs look great, we'll have to do the same thing in the next few months. Tim has had some close calls himself (b/c he takes the stairs WAY too fast) and I think the carpet will benefit him as much as the kiddos!

  10. Hi honey,
Your "inviting staircase" to the children's bedroom is perfect. You'll have to post pics of their awesome rooms:) I'm so excited and have had soooo much fun shopping for my grandson and granddaughter. How lucky I am to travel with you and Doug to meet these precious children and will be keeping my fingers crossed that only one trip will be required.
    Lots of hugs,
Mom XO XO XO XO XO

We are forever changed since we lost Brighton. The hurt and pain burned into our hearts, but now we know we have to do something to help.
