Celebrating....

A couple of months ago, we decided to wait to go to an authentic Ethiopian Restaurant until we received our referral.  We wanted to celebrate after getting our good news.  So, on Saturday night, we went to Dinner at Addis Red Sea with a few of Doug's closest friends.  I have to say, it was a good excuse to eat with our hands! :)

I had mentioned before I was a picky eater, and yet, I still REALLY like the food!  We can't wait to go back again with our children.  I also spoke to the manager to see if she knew anyone who could potentially translate for us after we return home (ideally, somebody who speaks Sidamo and Amharic).  She gave me her phone number and told me to call her when we bring the kids home.  So, if anyone needs a translator, you may want to check your local Ethiopian restaurants or markets......

Doug started painting the little guys room this weekend.  Hmmmmmm.....it may be a little bright, so we will have to wait and see how it turns out.

Other than that, I refrained from shopping this weekend.  Not because I wanted to, but because I had to.  Having just turned in the "final" payment.....

Now the second part of the wait begins.  We met with our case manager on Friday; we don't know, and will not know if we travel once or twice.  Kind of a bummer, as I am a planner.  Either way, it will work out.  One thing they did tell us, and it does make sense, that if we do travel twice, we should refrain from telling our children that we are their parents.  At 5 and 3 yrs, they are old enough to understand.   We don't want this being any more difficult on them than it already has been.

  8. Yum, I can't wait to try that place. We're planning a trip to ride the swan boats soon so maybe we can go there afterward. I hope your travel arrangements go smoothly, and that soon you will be flying over the Atlantic.

  9. We love Red Sea Addis, but there is an even better place we found called Fasika Restaurant.
Here is what I wrote about it last year. We've been twice two both places and prefer Fasika.
