As you can see, we got our referral call!! I was in Buffalo for work, and lucky for me (again), Doug came with me on this trip too! So....we were actually together. This is how it went down. We left for Upstate NY on Monday morning. I stared at my phone for the entire 7 hour drive. I guess it was a little "mother's intuition," but I had a strange feeling over the past week that it would happen soon. I don't know why, I just did. Tuesday passed by....no call. And then, it was Wednesday. Doug dropped me off at Wegman's (a popular grocery store that has a coffee shop upstairs) so I could meet with a nurse and a sales colleague. We remained "on topic" for much of the appointment, and then we chatted about my adoption. My colleague asked when she thought I would hear. My response, "any day, week or month from now!" And then I got goofy and said, "well, its been 45 minutes and I haven't checked my phone, so let me check it." I was totally joking around, unlocked my phone and saw 2 missed calls. One of those calls was from "WHFC." OMG, OMG!!! I think I may have screamed a little scream, and barely said good-bye. I raced downstairs, my hands were shaking, and I called Doug. He was in the parking lot. WHFC had called him too, so he knew what was going on. They wanted us to be together to hear about our referral, so I jumped in the car, and we pulled into another parking lot to return the call.
Our case manager had been out all week, so it was actually her manager giving us our news.
"We have a referral for you!"
"A sibling group!"
"A boy, and a girl!"
OMG - in a perfect world, it was EXACTLY what I would have wished for. An older boy and his younger sister. I couldn't believe it!
"They are 4.5 and 3 yrs old on paper, although they may be older."
The only thing I needed to know.....are they healthy?
We spoke with our IA expert on Thursday night. Yes, they are healthy!!!
That was all I needed to know.
I wish I could share more, but you all know the rules.
We accepted their referral yesterday morning.
I still can't believe it. We have so much to do.
I'm in love, again......
