"The Wait"

I couldn't really sleep last night (surprise), even after a loading dose of benadryl.  While sitting in bed, with my blackberry in my hands, I continued to search through blogs.  I came across one that I hadn't seen before, and stumbled upon this quote.  I wanted to share it with everyone who waits with us:

"Waiting is one of God's most powerful tools of grace.  God doesn't just give us grace for the wait.  The wait itself is a gift of grace.  You see, waiting is not only about what you will receive at the end of the wait.  Waiting is about what you become while you wait."  Paul David Tripp

Although I certainly consider myself more spiritual than religious, and I admit, I have lost a lot of faith during this process, I will keep this one close.

  1. That is a great quote. The wait definitely shaped us into the people we are today. I'm sorry you have lost a lot of faith during this journey, but I understand why you would. The wait is hard but you will get through it. We are still praying for you guys everyday!

  2. That is a very thought-provoking quote. I was also reading something today on one of the boards about how we're all temporarily insane during our waits!

  3. I love that quote, and it's so true. I am not the same person I was when I began this journey almost two years ago, and I dare say I am better for it.

P.S. I do the same thing on my blackberry! Glad to know I'm not the only one, LOL!

  4. That is a powerful quote, and so very true in my experience. We had a long wait for each of our children, each was different, and each changed me completely. I cannot say I am grateful for those waits, but they did help me be ready for my children when I finally met them.

  5. A good one to keep close. I recommend THE PATH OF WAITING ... a little book, really an essay, by Henry Nowen. Think of you often!

  6. Very good quote and one for us all to keep in mind =) Thank you for sharing it with all of us "waiters" out there. We're not alone in this and supportin/leaning on eachother will get us through! Hang in there!

  7. Hmmm, I meant supportinG with a G. I sounded like Sarah Palin with that drop of a /g/ "supportin'" =)
