Happy Birthday Doggie Dog-ters!

Today is Abbey, and Ellie's birthday.  No, they aren't sisters, but.....when I was living in Fort Collins, CO, back in 2000, I decided to get myself a dog.  I went to the local shelter and found my beautiful little girl, Abbey (the red one).  I brought her home on March 7th, 2000 (at that point, they estimated her to be about 1 year old).  Fast forward 7 years....Doug and I went to our local shelter here in MA on Memorial Day weekend, and Doug (and I stress that) picked out Ellie (aka "Ellie Monster, or Ellie Bellie....'cause she eats everything, including rocks - now you know why I stress that Doug picked her out :) ).  It just so happened that Ellie's birthdate on record was also March 7th.  Maybe it was meant to be?

Here is a picture of our girls.  They just returned home from a walk with their mama, to a nice frosty paw treat.....look at how well they're behaving!

On another note, thank you for making Tam's Miracle a successful first week.  Some PAPs have asked if they can put Tam's Miracle on their blog.....please do!  Thank you very much!!

Tomorrow I leave for Philadelphia for the week.  I had to go to Buffalo the week before last, and my kind husband came with me....just not crazy about spending the nights by myself yet....too much down-time.  I hope I can get through this week (wine may help).....

  2. Oh, they're so cute! And I love that they have the same birthday! I am bad with my dogs... we had to make up birthdays (like you did with your first) and then I don't ever remember them. Bad doggie mama!

And yes on the wine! It works wonders for me. :)

  4. You don't know me but I found your blog thru the yahoo group. Your story touched me deeply. In January of 2009 we received the referral of a 6 month old baby boy named Tamirat. He came home in April and I can not even imagine the pain you must have felt losing your Tamirat before you got to hold him. Your family is in our prayers.

  5. As I mentioned (maybe too often) in my blog; a glass of wine can do wonders. Safe travels to you. By the way, my husband's dream is to have two dogs (right now we have none); he's pretty jealous. =) I'll put a link to Tam's Miracle on my blog! Meg B-Chicago by-dirigible.blogspot.com

  6. I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for your loss. I found your blog through Kelly's and had to come right over and read your story.

As I sit on the waitlist, waiting to get a referral for my son in Ethiopia, I think of you and all the others who have had to experience such profound loss. I'm sorry, and I'm thinking of you in the days ahead.

  7. Just wanted to touch base and say I am thinking of you with all the new changes in Ethiopia. You will get through all this and have your children! Hugs.

  8. Gee, my 2 granddogs look like perfect angels waiting for their birthday ice-cream treats!
But we know they can act like real sisters, right! Happy birthday Abbey & Ellie :)
