Everything that we can do, for now, is done.....

It has been a good day! Doug and I had our biometrics (aka 10-digit fingerprints) completed today. It didn't take long, and for whatever reason, we both thought we were going to get "all inked up." Not so fast. Technology, technology. I should have known better...they scan our fingertips, and the scans are sent electronically to whoever, wherever. Somebody will then determine that neither of us have any sort of a criminal record, and will proceed to clear us for an international adoption, aka, orphan petition. Keeping my fingers crossed that this will only take a week or two. Once we receive the document in our hands, we fax it off to the agency, and we are officially "waiting." Our dossier was approved back on October 9th.

Luckily, the work craziness has slowed down, as it often does around holiday time. Things will certainly pick up in vaccine nation after the New Year. It is an opportunity for me to catch up on all of my reading and organizing that I have been putting off over the last several months.

Doug's 40th b-day is Friday! Happy 4-0 Doug!! Wow, I can't believe I am married to a forty year old. Yikes! I say that half-joking, 'cause I am only 25 months (but who's counting) behind him.

We were talking last night, and it is possible that he won't be a Dad til he is "41." I, of course, hope that it does happen in 2010, however, we have to both (mostly me) be mentally prepared for a longer wait. You never know though..... :))

  1. Hooray!
You completed the entire application process before Doug's big b-day.
Waiting will be the toughest part, but the day will come when you get the news to book the flight to Ethiopia to meet your child :)
