Today is our 8 weeks of waiting day. I don't think any one of us can deny how emotionally draining and anxiety provoking this process can be at times. However, please believe me that there are moments....the little rays of sunlight that shine through, those moments that we will never forget. The first big moment is the day we received our referral call. And then there are other "shining" moments. Last week, we saw some sunshine, and again last night.
I had a really tough night last Tuesday. Everything hit me all at once (unfortunately, it was 1am). I had to get out to bed to try to clear my congested head (from crying so much). It was a tremendous mix of emotions. Other than our scheduled calls with our case manager, I really haven't reached out to speak with her. On Wednesday, while driving to work, I figured "what the heck," and gave her a call. She had just received some updated measurements on our two children, Little Miss B and Mr. M. Well, that is good news, right? I went on to tell her that I had a tough night, and I would feel so much better knowing that they were safe and sound. This conversation went on for a while actually, when she then told me that she thought they had been transferred to the HH. If that was the case, I would feel a million gazillion times better.
I knew there was a family traveling last week, so I sent them a quick email (they already had our permission to take pictures). Within a couple of hours, I received an email in return. It was confirmed. Little Miss B and Mr. M were at the HH, happy as could be. Here are a few excerpts from the email:
"He was very smiley and sweet and winked back and forth...."
"The nanny did tell M and B that their parents wanted us to take pictures of them and sent their love. Their faces lit up when they were told this and they beamed. They kept looking at me and J (they were eating bread and tea for snack) and smiling."
"She is a real cutie with curly hair and a beautiful smile. M seems to be a very nice boy... "
My heart melted. A shining moment in this not so shiny process.
And then last night. Doug and I received 27 pictures of our beautiful and very happy children. They were filled with delight and laughter. Their smiles are contagious.
We can't wait to meet them, to hold them, hug them, kiss them, and to tell them how much we love them. Really, we do. I honestly didn't know the loving part would be so easy.
I know for those of you that are waiting for referrals, it seems almost improbable at times, but you too will have many shining moments. The smallest pieces of information are like gold, and will make you smile from the inside out. There is nothing else like it.
Now, if we would only get that "Good News" email.......

The waiting must be so hard. :( How wonederful though that you were able to get updates on them. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! 27 photos on top of the great news that M&B are at HH!! That's so exciting.
ReplyDeleteOur little ones were *so* happy and so well-loved at HH2. I hope it eases your heart some to know your sweet children are finally there ... their last stop before coming home to you.
(BTW, I'm still holding on to the theory that you've already passed court and are going to get that amazing email any moment!)
Great news! I am sure it won't be long until you get them.
ReplyDeleteHow amazing to get all of those photos and those reports from other APs! It's something I look forward to doing myself someday - helping those who are waiting by providing them with glimpses of their children. (And of course, I hope some will do the same for us!) I hope that sunshine sticks with you for a bit and that you get that court news as soon as possible. Hang in there.
ReplyDelete27 pictures! How wonderful! Like Kelly said I can't wait to do that for a Waiting family as well as be on the receiving end of those updates! Hopefully you'll hear some good news soon! I can't wait to hear all about your kiddos!
