We're Moving!

I'm getting a little ahead of myself.  We aren't moving yet, but, our house is officially on the market.  Yup.  Part One of our big news.  This is the bloggable part of our Part One news.  We made the move from the "city" to the "country" 4 years ago.  Four, very loooong, years ago.  We wanted more house & more yard for our dogs.  We got both, and I was miserable for the first year.  It wasn't until last year when I had finally arrived at that place where I was content.  The market around here is horrible, we refinanced, our payment is manageable, and our kids are happy.  I resigned myself to the fact that we were stuck, so we had to make the best of it.

But then, things changed.  My mom is moving.  My brother is building.  My family is small.  I want to be near them.  My Dad is still here, but now that he is retired, and doesn't mind driving, he can see both his children and all of his grandchildren on the same trip.

It sounds like we are moving far away, doesn't it?  We're not.  Maybe 90 minutes Southeast.  It's what we refer to as the "South Shore" in Massachusetts.  Not the most diverse area, but, the school systems are a lot stronger, and let's face it, I don't think we could afford to put our children through private elementary school, high school and then college.  We'll be paying more per month; however, the pay-off is greater when you factor in a great education for our 3 children.

Hmmmm.....did I say 3?

  1. Woohoo, I'm excited and tad bit jealous of this elusive #3. Not so excited about you moving further away from us, but I suppose we can deal. Lets get together soon, please.

  7. Hi honey,
Lots of changes are on the horizon for us.
None of us would have predicted moving to the South Shore, but I can't think of anything that would make me happier in life than to be living near my daughter and son and their families.
    My fingers are crossed!
    Lots of love,
    Mom

  8. You know, I saw something somewhere (a comment on another blog? Yahoo group?) where someone was talking to you like you were in the middle of another process. Do tell! And congrats on making the decision to move. We are itching to be closer to family, too.
